Gigabyte p55a-ud3 memory upgrade

Hello!

I have a Gigabyte p55a-ud3 motherboard, and i want to buy a 1x8GB stick in it. Even though it has 4 dimm slots, 2 of them not working. and i found a good deal on a 8gb stick.
The maximum memory support of the board is 16gig, and it separates to 4 dimm slots. So one dimm slot can only use 4 gig ram? Or it can handle 8 gig ram?
Any experienses? Thanks in advance!

The MB documentation doesn't say you CAN'T do it....so I would try it.

Will not support 8GB stick. Or they would have listed 8GB x 4 as maximum instead of 4GB x 4.

Loss of money and time if you want to try an 8GB stick
