When on a browser, sometimes in a game, my screen will jump about an inch up and down. It is fast, but slow enough to notice. I heard this was a problem with the new r9 series of cards (due to bios maybe?). Not sure what to do about this, any suggestions? :(

Hi All,

I have a R779OC-1GD, and after updating to 13.12 driver I noticed the flickering and leaving the PC alone for some hours the monitor could not come back from stand by. Going back to 12.101.2 driver, which is the latest one on the Gigabyte home page, the issue disappeared.
Kind an off topic, but may be useful for some fellows.

Regards,

Posted this solution in a related thread. I see no recent traffic, or solution posted, but this solved my issue:

There is/was a bad bios version with a bug related to 2d mode for a number of the R9 series cards(I assume R7 also). I've seen it on multiple brands of 270x and 280x cards. The solution, at least for me, was to flash / upgrade to the newest card bios. *NOTE* this can be a destructive and risky operation as I have not seen a secondary bios toggle like some boards have these days. Rather than explain, there is a quality video on youtube that walks through these steps with links:

BIOS Update Tutorial

The video states XFX and R9 280x bios, and accordingly, the bios link has the filters already set for that card. Simply modify the search parameters, or start with a fresh link: Video Bios Collection

Again, be extremely careful when attempting this solution. I hold no liability if you manage to damage your card.
