[citation][nom]hellwig[/nom]2xPCIe x16 @ 1x16 and 1x4? Not good, hopefully they'll have better boards available at launch, you know, for people who actually want to use SLI/Crossfire. More companies should use those open-ended x4 slots if they only wired the second slot as an x4. Sure, I can read the specs and see its only x4, but I think they're being slightly dishonest including a full-sized x16 slot that is only wired for x4.[/citation]

I actually find it strange too but it might be the chipset itself cine these mobos seem to be geared towards the SB CPUs with the IGP. I am sure there will be mobos with no IGP features and can only use the K series unlocked CPUs.

And I could have sworn too that the 6 series was to have more PCIe 2.0 lanes than the 5 series chipsets so it would have been at least x8/x8.

Yeah, this is such a disappointment. When I hear Sandybridge I think about at least 5 full-bandwidth x16 PCIe slots. There are motherboards with 7 PCIe slots available today. So they should really try harder...

Can i still use my LGA 1156 cpu cooler? Or do i have to buy a new adapter?

"4x SATA 3 Gbps , 2x SATA 6 Gbps, 2x USB 3.0, 14x USB 2.0"

How lame is that? So these are actually SATA 3g and USB 2 mobo's with bits of newer stuff glued on as an after thought. No thanks. I'll wait for the next gen when they do it right.

We can see ATI printed on the MB (for CrossFire). Will be very happy to see AMD written on a intel MB in the future release (due to name change).

YAY another new chipset to be obsoleted in a year! Can't wait to see what kinds of amazing improvements we'll see next year with LGA 1154... USB3, 6 gig SATA, 16X AND 4X PCIe's... Color me super impressed.

These are the first gen' of "the next big thing"(ho, ho,) don't expect to find keenly priced feature rich products at this point in time.As for all you "souped up seven ways from Sunday " speed shop type people. Well from what i have read(not much admittedly) The bad news is that Intel are apparently looking to limit overclocking facility's on it's next 'gen cpu's {BooHoo} (read up about the architecture on this site. )Nothing set in stone about this yet. But it doesn't look too good for 'clockers from the information available.
I was going to put an i7 system together. But will now wait for Sandy Bridge/ Bulldozer to land. I will still build an i7 system ,but hopefully at a reduced cost. Cant see it being obsolescent in terms of "grunt" any time soon.
