Hello,

Thank you for reading this. I recently bought a Gigabyte Windforce RTX 3060 12G from Amazon UK, but I had some enquiries for Gigabyte support:

1. Why do the fans spin up at 50c when my RX 580 used to spin up at 60c? It is OK to change it to 60c?

2. What is the maximum hotspot temperature before I should be concerned?

I thought these were really basic questions, but Gigabyte's e-support have been no help. Not only do they take a week to reply, but they don't answer you properly and even get their information wrong and it's been a frustrating experience dealing with them. I am still none-the-wiser and I have now taken out insurance with Amazon just so I can avoid dealing with Gigabyte.

So I would like to ask my questions here please. The first card that arrived ended up developing grunting fans on spin-up with 1 day left on the return period, and I know that's a common issue unless mounted vertically. I've had the replacement for a week and I am half-expecting the new card to do the same, but fingers crossed. Can anyone explain why they decided 50c should be the threshold? Will I end up having to set the fans to always on because these will start grunting too? Thanks a lot.

Thanks for that. I still don't understand why Gigabyte set it to 50c. It starts and stops watching youtube or general pc use. I'd like to know why they thought the fans constantly switching on and off would be a good idea. 60c would allow for a quieter computer.
