I hope this is the correct forum, I did not see one dedicated for headgear audio. I was sent by a friend to these forums with him telling me he got quality help from here so I'll ask my question.

I've been using some solid headphones for my CoD gaming but over time the headphones have started irritating my ears and sides of my head. What I want to do is find a quality set of earbuds to use over my headphones. I understand I won't get the same quality audio from buds as my headphones but I want to move away from headphones.
Normally with most of my non shooter games I use my condenser mic and have the audio come out of my external speakers but I can't do that with my shooter games.

Question: Can anyone recommend a quality set of earbuds that has the best audio for Call of Duty style games? I'll probably use is on my mobile devices as well for music and watching stuff on my tablet. Also I'd like to have a slightly longer core that reaches from my PC so I can have a little freedom to move without the cord being pulled tight.

Wouldn't consider buds for long term use, it's more the matter regarding ear health, pushing in ear wax, grime, introducing bacteria etc, imo can be worse off. Ear/scalp irritation from over ear phones would commonly be because the cups are too small or headband applying too much pressure around the ears and side of head.

Sennheiser HD 280 pro could be a better fit, has soft pads, decent sound and use them regularly to watch tv shows. Trying different demo sets at a hi-fi store might be an idea, though probably won't really know how comfortable they'll end up being from a brief try. Maybe they can advise further or perhaps look at videos showing what to look for in terms of comfort.
