Question Gigabyte RX 580 makes weird buzzing noise

Hi guys,

As the title says...

Sometimes when I'm gaming my graphics card will make this buzzing noise for about 10-20 seconds.

Then it stops for maybe 20-30 minutes before doing it again.

It doesn't sound like typical coil whine to me though... ?

I've also opened up the case and listened closely as I thought it might be the hard drive. But can confirm it is coming from the graphics card - especially when I alt tab out of the game, the noise stops almost immediately.

Depending on the graphical intensity of the game, sometimes it's even louder.

I've also looked at my other case fans and can see no wires are interfering with the blades.

I have no issues with performance - so is this noise something I should be concerned about for the longevity of the card ?

Thanks

(note it sounds quieter in the videos than it actually is)

Seems like it might be a vibration thing.

So when I just lightly touch the shroud, the sound stops altogether.

I guess the noise should be fine then ?

Yeah, something is vibrating apparently. Or rubbing. Maybe when the card gets warm, the close tolerances cause the fan to rub something. I guessed that it may be the shroud, but it could be something else.

I doubt it is a serious issue, just agrivating to listen to. See if you can tell where the fan blades are extremelt close to.
