Question Gigabyte RX 590, not working

Hello all. What a great resource! This is my first posting.

My super-duper brand new graphics card isn't working - at all - no spinning fans, nothing.

I used to put together 486s and the first Pentiums (back in the late 80s and early 90s) and sell them out of my dorm room, so I'm not a complete novice - I was fidgeting with DIM switches and held my own (then). I've also built two "relatively" modern systems - one in 2007 and one in 2012 - my current configuration.

I just got a good deal on the GIGABYTE Radeon RX 590 DirectX 12 GV-RX590GAMING-8GD Rev. 2.0 8GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16. I tried installing it in my motherboard (Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H) running F7 bios (which I know may be the problem - Gigabyte's last issued BIOS is the F16j in 2017). but although the system started up, there were no graphics on the HP ZR30w 30 inch monitor via Display Port (the RX 590 does not support DVI, but it does have Display Port as does the monitor). The monitor just went into sleep mode and did not show BIOS info.

Multiple message boards show that my motherboard and the graphics card are compatible.

I have an OCZ 750W power supply, so I don't think power is the problem (although the PSU is 7 years old now). The PSU does have 3 faulty 5 pin connector ports (out of the 5), but that has been since the beginning and hasn't posed a problem since and I don't see how it can relate to the Graphics card as they are not being used.

Everything else is running fine. I have a Sapphire Radeon HD 6570 Graphics card currently running in the system (in the PCIEx8 slot) on a new install of Windows 10 with 32GB of CORSAIR Vengeance LP 32GB (4 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM. I also have the system booting from a Crucial 2TB MX 500 SSD.

Question? How do I troubleshoot this pesky issue. I don't mind rummaging in the BIOS, but not if I don't need to. My years of experience make me wary of BIOS tinkering.

Modern Graphics and System BUS technology seem to have made some major leaps in the last decade, and this may be beyond my knowledge base.

Suggestions or advice is welcomed.

Thanks!
Dartagnan

That PSU should not exist near that system. Also, you should state your specs like so:
CPU:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:

16J is the latest for your motherboard. If you're on Windows 10, what version are you on?

Thanks Lutfij for the quick turnaround and setting me straight on protocol.

CPU: Intel Core i7-3770K Ivy Bridge Quad-Core 3.5GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD5H-WB LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel
Ram: CORSAIR Vengeance LP 32GB (4 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
SSD/HDD: Crucial 2TB MX500 2.5" Internal SSD
GPU: GIGABYTE Radeon RX 590 DirectX 12 GV-RX590GAMING-8GD Rev. 2.0 8GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16
PSU: PC Power & Cooling ZT Series 750 Watt 80+ Bronze Fully-Modular Active PFC Performance Grade ATX
Chassis: Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced - High Air Flow Full Tower Computer Case with USB 3.0
OS: Windows 10

I would really not like to spend anything more on this system. Next upgrade will be a complete overhaul, so if I don't have to replace PSU, I really don't want to. Although it sounds like you despise it. I can't blame you. Those 3 defective 5-pin power ports were basically DOA.

I have F7 BIOS. As you point out, latest is F16j
