i7-6700 (non-k)
16Gb DDR4-2133
Gigabyte Z170XP-SLI

I understand this is a non-k CPU, but if I change the BCLK in the BIOS (it isn't called BCLK in the BIOS but rather "CPU clock ratio" or something like that, I'm not home now), I get a big ole error saying "boot failed" or something along those lines and it loads to BIOS. It will boot normally when I set it back to the default 100, but also won't boot if I change the ram multiplier down after changing BCLK... And if I leave multiplier on default, it also won't lock the CPU multiplier at 40 like I have it set to... What do i do to make the settings stick, and the Setup boot?

Solution
If you understand that you have non-K CPU which CAN'T be OCd (e.g run at 4Ghz flat on all cores), then why you keep trying?

As far as what to do to get your settings "stick", it's simple, switch out your CPU with K-series CPU, e.g i5-6600K, i7-6700K, i5-7600K or i7-7700K. Latter two need latest BIOS to operate.
