Question Gigabyte z390 Aorus elite and Noctua nh d15

The Noctua website says these two items are compatible but when the ram is in slot a1 and b1 the pipes on the cooler go right through the side of the ram in slot b1. So if I slot the ram in a2 and b2 it seems to fit but then I believe I forfeit dual channel mode? Also when all the brackets are on the I can not screw down the spring loaded screws one side always pops off if I use a little pressure to force it down.

Can you post a picture? Typically it's on the fan that'll obstruct RAM slots.

As for not being able to screw it down... that doesn't seem right. It's pretty easy - although you do want to get one side starts (couple of rotations) before attempting the second.

hi thanks for the reply it seems I can rotate the brackets to top and bottom of the cpu instead of side by side its just the picture in the manual shows side by side but lower down says you can change them around. As for screwing it down I have applied considerable pressure and still can't seem to screw them down.

Should be top and bottom for a right to left orientation/airflow - looks right to me.

You're sure you have the brackets themselves tightened down sufficiently?

Non-compatible brackets (like FM2 etc) shouldn't physically fit the socket, so that won't be it either...
Honestly, that's very, very strange.

Finally got it down almost had to almost lay on the thing. Just wondering is it worth having the second fan when it sits this high.

Shouldn't have had to take that much pressure - but glad you got it done.

Yes, it's still worth it - You're still getting the majority of the airflow pushing through the heatsink.
