OK, this is the second brand of MB that I have purchased. The first was a Asus Strik 790E wifi 2. Both advertise/d PCIE x16 slots with m.2 gen 5 SSD capabilities. However as I am now seeing, this Gigabyte board is set up such that if the SSD is installed in the #1 slot and the graphics is installed in the first slot along with it, the x16 bandwidth is split only giving 8 lanes to each item. Does anyone know of motherboards that don't do this and give full bandwidth to each component? Does the MSI MPG Z790 carbon wifi 2 have separate lanes for the two components. It is the other board I am considering. Thanks.

So it seems there is the x16 architecture that everyone is advertising, but is in fact not there, correct? Bummer. I wonder if going to the gen 5 and halving the transfer lanes is any better than just staying with the old gen 4 SSDs.
