Hi everyone,

I'm having an issue with my 2 sticks of 24GB (total: 48GB) of G.Skill 8200MT/s in slots A2 and B2 of the Gigabyte Z790 AORUS Pro X v1.0 whenever I enable XMP in the BIOS. It seems to run fine at the base 5600MT/s.

Auto XMP settings for this RAM: DDR5-8200 40-52-52-131 - 1.35v

Should I try a lower MT/s value? Should I try upping the voltage (VCCSA and IO [VCCIO])? Or maybe altering the memory training settings (which are currently all set to auto)? I would like to get the full 8200MT/s if possible, since that's why I purchased this RAM. And it's been a while since I built a PC so my knowledge, I think, is a bit outdated. I've been trying to search online as well as use ChatGPT 4.0 to help but so far, no luck. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I can usually find these newer, more advanced features on my own but any additional instruction would be greatly appreciated as well.

Components:
Motherboard:
Gigabyte Z790 AORUS Pro X version 1.0
CPU: Intel Core i9-14900K
RAM (should be compatible) 2 sticks of 24GB for a total of 48GB: G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB Series (Intel XMP 3.0) DDR5 RAM 48GB (2x24GB) 8200MT/s CL40-52-52-131 1.35V (F5-8200J4052F24GX2-TZ5RW)
GPU: NVidia RTX 4090 Suprim (liquid cooled).
PSU: Corsair AXi Series, AX1600i, 1600 Watt, 80+ Titanium
CPU cooler: ASUS ROG Strix LC II 360 ARGB White Edition All-in-one AIO Liquid CPU Cooler 360mm Radiator, Intel LGA1700
Case: Lian Li O11DEXL-W - O11 Dynamic EVO XL Full Tower

F5-6800J3446F48GX2-TZ5RS is the only 2x24 G.Skill kit on the memory compatibility list:
https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/Z790-AORUS-PRO-X/support#support-memsup

It looks like there aren't any kits faster than 6800 Mhz that are also >24Gb

I lack the expertise when it comes to tweaking timings and OCing RAM. Maybe it's possible to get full speed out of that kit using that motherboard, but it's uncharted territory.

Thanks for the response. I did see that F5-6800J3446F48GX2-TZ5RS was on the list but according to the Mobo specs, the F5-8200J4052F24GX2-TZ5RW should work just fine. It not being on the list could just mean that they have not tested and confirmed it.

I have been slowly increasing the voltage and it has been getting more and more stable so far but I'm currently at 1.38v and did just experience a crash after the PC was on for about an hour, just sitting there, not really doing anything. Originally it was crashing before it even got to the windows startup scene so I'm thinking this is progress. I'm going to test in increments all the way up to (but not exceed) 1.4v and if that doesn't solve it, I'll start to try lower MT/s settings (like 8000).

It should be noted that it seemed to be completely stable with a single RAM stick at 1.355v but when I put the second RAM stick in, it immediately crashed again. That's when I started slowly upping the voltage. Could this indicate that I have another bad G.skill ram stick (I have already found 2 sticks that were bad and wouldn't even allow the PC to start and the DRAM light came on).
