Thats a laugh - their BOB game is well bugged!! Maybe they should get their
own testing dept sorted first.

Well, then it makes perfectly sense that they're looking for beta-
testers :)

Outside beta-testing is a necessity - you need people testing your game
that aren't part of the dev team, to do the unexpected, to click on what
shouldn't be clicked etc. Then there are cost-issues - it's just not do-
able to employ the number of testers you really need.

Join a beta-test team - experience the inner workings of a dev team
firsthand - make a game you enjoy even better :) [yeah, I know the
drawbacks as well]

If they pay me I might.

But you *are* paid when you beta-test - not in money, but I find it
enormously satisfying to help steer a wargame I love to fruition. Money
can't buy that feeling.

And for those who've never worked on a software project before it's
often an eye-opener and an experience they'll remember.

There are some drawbacks and Mr. Giftzwerg has once mentioned "The
Biggie" : you lose the sense of wonder and amazement as you've literally
seen it all at the moment others discover this new game.

He was right of course (as he usually is) but for me that's a small
price to pay. Mileage may vary here :)
