I am a graphic designer who frequently works with Photoshop and Illustrator. Sometimes I also edit videos with Premiere or simple applications like Movavi. I intend to make my computer last in quality until at least 2027. I am seeking recommendations for upgrades.
Alright everyone, I currently have a computer with an AM4 chipset and its details are as follows:
  1. Mobo - Aorus B550M Pro p
  2. CPU - Ryzen 7 5800x
  3. RAM - 2x16gb Corsair Vengeance RGB
  4. GPU - ASUS Dual RX6600xt 8gb OC
In your opinion, should I upgrade my MOBO, RAM, and CPU to an AM5 system, or only upgrade the GPU to, for example, an RX 6700XT with 12GB for a significant improvement to my system?

Thank you

Photoshop and illustrator are CPU intensive tasks.

Video editing is again mixed with both cpu core count and gpu vram and raw compute power.

So the correct question is, are you bottlenecked with gpu VRAM and processing power? I would say the cpu upgrade would give you minimal boost as the 5800X is already a good chip. But a GPU with more VRAM and processing power can definitely help in your video editing tasks.

If the softwares do not use CUDA, go for 6750XT or 6800 if you can afford it.
