Going to 16 X 8GB Ram from X1 16GB ram safe?

So my laptop has X1 16GB Ram installed right now with the full specs being
X1 16GB 2400Mhz
1070 non max Q
7700HQ
256GB SSD/1TB HDD

Was wondering if I could go with another 8GB Ram with similar speeds for dual channel or would I potentially face problems?

see if the ram you have in is similar to these https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/MSI-(Micro-Star)/ge73vr-raider-002 you need to get same name and model of ram you have in it and this 16 gig is a dual set .
