going to buy Alieneware x51 998 pounds need advice

i know people will jump in and say Overpriced i dont care about cash, i want PC will last with good customer service i dont want PC when something get corrupted ill be redirect to subcontractor or the manufacturer, So is dell / alieneware good as customer service any experience ? any friend had one ? Please no RAGE 😛

Only odd thing I see is that they list the GTX760 @ 1.5GB of memory. I can't locate any cards with that value, always 2GB or 4GB.

OEMs often get ahold of the 'inbetween' cards that are crippled versions of the mainstream ones. I would be concerned that rather then a 256bit card with 2GB you are ending up with a 192bit 1.5GB card.

Customer service varies, but it is Dell, so not going to be any worse then anywhere else I imagine.

I'm assuming you live in the UK, you can get a custom built PC that is both cheaper and higher performance. However, I still think that building your own computer is the best way to go.

Tech support was worthless (DELL, so obviously). Obviously I overpaid by ALOT as you seem willing to do.

SO MUCH worthless bloatware that they install and you get rid of.

It was not upgradeable so I was SOL, and 2 years after I bought it, I couldn't even sell it for 25% of what I Paid.

Doing so much as changing a BIOS setting will void the VERY strict warranty.


Also, you aren't overpaying by 200 pounds, try 350-400 pounds.

Building your own system will likely not result in any problems this go-around.

You will not get amazing quality. Your PSU will be questionable quality at best. Your computer will not be upgradeable.

When you build your own computer, you get a warranty with EVERY part. Most come with 5+ year warranties.

I have an alienware laptop. Good service, I personally wouldn't buy a desktop, they are just not powerful enough and twice the price of an own build., but lappy all the way..They are top quality

my custom computer know freezes like once a day, temp not stable, Screen of death randomly and every time it says another reason ? formate it like 7 times no help. i contacted asus and they give me there asus Diagnostics program and sent them the results they said change your hard drive and RAMs. i am fried i start changing and i end up with big bill so this PC is old like 3 years and its like 24/7 working never shut down so i am sure its dead lol thats why i want new PC but i want good warranty.

buy a pre built configed pc from overclockers- good customer service, better parts, cheaper and warranty on everything. Not as cheap as building it yourself but a million times better than alienware.

what do you expect with a laptop, there is no room to get the adequate cooling.. if you want to run your gpu , thats what you have to expect. The good thing about them is they dont get hot with normal use- because they use the onboard gpu to run the majority of regular pc(non gaming) usage!
