Gona get r9 280, can i run new games with this build?

Hy guys,
First of all, sorry for my bad english.
We are going to upgrade our pc with my brother, this is the current one:
Asus M5A87
AMD Athlon II x3 450
Sapphire HD 6450 (1GB)
2x2GB Kingston Ram (1333Mhz)
FSP 550W Raider S 550 80+
And a random HDD
If we buy a sapphire r9 280, will we be able to play newer games at least on minimum? We know we need to get a new mobo and cpu, but we can only buy 1 component per month. We are planning to get an fx 8320 and M5A97 next month, and we are not going to OC anything. So my question is: Is that cpu enough to play newer games on minimum? Resolution is full HD.

FX-8320 + R9 280 can run newer games on high i'd expect. I'd personally OC to get better performance but If you don't want to.. meh.

You may want to upgrade the RAM though.

Umm, maybe i wasnt clear about the question. I want to know if the AMD Athlon II x3 450 is enough for it, because we cant buy the fx8320 until january.

Oh my mistake 😛 Should be fine. The FX-6300 is only slightly better than the AMD Athlon II x3 450 and I use an FX-6300 with an R9 280x.
