Good budget monitor that will go well with a GTX 970?

Because this question was asked 6 months ago, when a WQHD monitor would still have been far more expensive (They have only really started coming down in price since the end of the summer). An initial budget was also specified by the OP, and I did not wish to stray too far outside of this limit.

If I was to recommend a monitor at this moment in time, I would probably recommend a 1080p/1440p (budget dependent) IPS panel for more enriched colors, but again, this is all personal preference.

Why comment on a topic that is this old? Computer parts are constantly being updated, and these prices are always changing. 6 months is a very long time in this market. I recommended what I felt was best at the time the question was asked.

I am currently looking into purchasing a monitor and I am looking for articles suggesting ones. I found Acer G257HU smidpx 25-Inch WQHD (2560 x 1440) Widescreen Monitor, but I've read nothing but complaints about the unstable mount. I have also considered the AOC q2963Pm 60Hz 29.0" Monitor, which is 2560 x 1080 (and that seems weird shouldnt it be 2560 x 1440?).

In any case I have a skylake cpu and a gtx 970 g1 gaming card. More than enough ram. Looking to spend ~300 for the best monitor.

Please start a new thread for this question, as it should not be part of this topic.

I will answer this very quickly however. A GTX 970 is not an amazing card for 1440p, and this will only get worse as games become more demanding. Does your resolution have to be 1440p, or can you consider a 1080p IPS panel, or will the refresh rates be too high?

There are lots of things to consider before you purchase. To directly answer your question, a good 1440p IPS monitor for $300 is hard to find. I don't know anything about AOC, so I cannot recommend or not recommend them. That Acer monitor you linked is quite good, but the stand is of poor build quality, but the price is solid for what you get.

From what I am reading also, it does appear to be a true IPS panel. I personally own: http://www.amazon.com/Dell-UltraSharp-U2515H-25-Inch-LED-Lit/dp/B00SPWPF1O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1457770147&sr=8-1&keywords=Dell+UltraSharp+U2515H, and I have to say the colors are incredible. The 6ms response is quite high though, so keep that in mind. The build quality is also fantastic. Unfortunately it is almost 25% above your allocated budget, but the quality is far superior to that of the Acer.

Again, I recommend that you start a new thread so that more people can give you their opinions.
