The i5 9400 is really good. It has really good value. Generally, the AMD products have much better value than the Intel and nVidia products, but that is what makes the 9400 unusual in a good way. It is an Intel product with good value.

But the 9400f is also good.

this build uses the 9400f.

I did not include a case or power supply. This build uses a stock CPU cooler along with integrated graphics.

I reccomend you get a psu with at least 450 watts.

No. Just no.

An RX580 is $180-$190...(this card is great at 1080P/ultra, and will be for a few more years!)

Then find an R5-1600 on sale for $80-$90, and a B450 for about $110.

FInd a $50 case, find a $50 SSD...and a $55 PSU....now you just need some DDR4, a 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) kit, preferably 3200 MHz...!

(This is better than getting a too-slow CPU/GPU like a 2400G forever just because it has half-a$$ graphics integrated....)

Honestly just shoot for a Ryzen 5 2600 for $120, an Asrock B450m Pro 4 for $70-80, 16GB DDR4 3200 for $60-70 and depending on taxes if applicable, that leaves up to $240 for a video card. If you have $500 saved, you should just keep saving at least another $100-120 to get a GTX 1660 Super and an SSD if you don't have one yet.
