Hi, I am finally transitioning from console to PC gaming now that I have some money :)

I am on a budget, and want to try to spend less then $1,000 CAD on a build. Here is what I have put together for myself: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/sPZR3C

My plan would be to eventually add an SSD for the OS in the future, as-well as maybe put a liquid cooler in too; and possibly upgrade the graphics card if I find I need to later on.

So my questions are; is the build I put together worth it? What should I add/change?

Keep in mind that I would like to try to have a black & red color scheme and have a good enough computer that could play games on high settings with decent fps; as-well as being good enough to do some light video editing.

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks!

I would preferably go Intel. I currently have an AMD chip in my PC because I was on a budget like you but in hindsight I should've waited a bit longer and saved a bit more for something like a 4690k. Other than that I see no issues besides you don't have any peripherals.

EDIT: Here this is a rough idea of what I would do... http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/V3q4WZ .... the mobo was just any one I saw for a good price with good features that can change.

Thanks for the reply, I already own a good keyboard & monitor so I have no need to buy them. As for the cpu; going with the Intel Core i5-4690k goes over my budget by about $150 unfortunately.

What have you found wrong with you're AMD chip making you want something like a 4690k?

Edit: Thanks for the update. I might actually go with the edited build you gave.

AMD FX line is very old by computer standards, they aren't as good in general and offer much less performance than any Intel platform, I found that out the hard way. Don't get me wrong I play plenty of games and have no issues but having an Intel platform will give you better performance.

Will the stock cooler work just fine, or do I need to buy an aftermarket one? As I said in my original post; my plan is once I get the money I'm going to buy a liquid cooler.

This cpu is a non-overclockable version of i5-4690k. Imo its powerful enough without the overclock....well at least for me. lol
Got a slightly cheaper mobo with $41 off promo and a cheaper case. And the gpu?

The gtx 970. :)

Probably not, a Hyper 212 EVO (or a similar product) will do just well especially if you go with theunliked's build. Without an OC'd CPU the stock cooler will work and a Hyper 212 EVO will be great. Going with water is not very practical with a non overclocking chip.
