Personal experience:
I had an Asus G51JX-3DE for a year then sold it for a low price because it was as terrible as hell could never imagine to be.
- Mic was terrible, nobody could listen to me.
- Web Cam was ok for the time.
- Touch pad driver was horrible, since it had a conflict with the keyboard. I type fast, and it couldn't keep up with my speed. I had to uninstall touch pad driver so the keyboard would pick everything I was typing. But by doing it, I had to be careful not to touch the touch pad by any means, since something would happen in the screen, like the cursor clicking some random thing on the page or just jumping down to next line.
- When gaming, it would get damn hot. I read on the internet lots of people systems where coming to a restart after playing for a while, since the laptop couldn't keep up with the heat (though I didn't have that problem)
- Sound was extremely low, and terrible, and distorted
- I couldn't use a usb headset (razer megalodon) and microsoft xbox controller at same time. Driver conflict. One or the other would work.
- 3d screen was a big piece of junk. After less than a week of use, when I used 3d on screen, the image started blinking very fast. At first I thought it was a virus. I formatted, then three days later BANG, same thing. Formatted again, BANG some days later.
In short, they could have gone better with time, I don't know if they improved the nowadays models, but i don't give fate a chance twice. So here's my advice based on my experience with this model, DON'T BUY ASUS AS A GAMING LAPTOP! Actually, don't buy a gaming laptop, desktop PCs can do so much better for you.
