Good GPU for i7 4970

So im looking to get a new GPU

Specs:
16GB DDR3 RAM
i7 4790
PSU 500w (should I upgrade alongside a new GPU?)
Case: not sure, but its a tower with plenty of space.

My current GPU is a GTX 1050 Ti 4GB which is a huge bottleneck.

The i7 4790 is still a very good processor and capable enough to feed the newer 1070 and 1080's so that one strictly comes down to your budget. For the PSU goes I think your set aswell unless you have a lot more optical drives etc not listed here. A handy tool for this I think is: https://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator
