I guess I'm looking for basic advice on how I should upgrade our home network system.
None of us game so ethernet might not need to be priority, but still a good option I know.
Ethernet is possible I believe from the builders POV, but mesh would be easier.

This is the house I live in with my family of 5
Recently had an extension built and looking to 'upgrade' our network/wifi system in the house, especially due to having new 'smart technology' added.I'm usually the 'tech' guy in the house, so will have an overview of all this, albeit still quite limited knowledge in this field.
Just looking for advice on what 'network system' would most benefit our needs, what we should buy etc.
What we have (if it helps):
  • TP-Link AC1200 (we have BT Fibre 1 wifi)
  • Google Nest Learning Thermostat (extension underfloor heating)
  • Hive (house central heating)
  • Warmup underfloor heating thermostat (toilets underfloor heating)
  • SuperLive CCTV
  • ConnectAlarm
  • Mag Box 524
  • 1 PC, 2/3 laptops and of course mobiles.
The TP-Link router/modem has been moved further down the house and will probably stay there.
ATM it has the CCTV and Hive wired into it. This is also where our TV will be going (looking at upgrading that also) as well as the Mag Box.
Virgin engineer popped down (friend of the builder) who strongly advised on an Orbi Mesh system for our house, as opposed to running ethernet to rooms.

I have a feeling I'll go with the Netgear RBK353 but of course open to suggestions.

Many thanks!

Before anyone mention MOCA, most UK households never had cable TV installed. They all had telephone lines installed, which is why most are on FTTC(fiber to the neighborhood cabinet).

Like said, powerline might be best, TPLINK even sells a system with powerline built in.

2 access point system: https://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-Powerline-coverage-Parental-Controls/dp/B089YXJHHW

3 access point system: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Deco-P9-Powerline-coverage-Parental/dp/B07XSBGP7G

These are AV1000 systems, instead of AV2000, but these might be fine if you're on FTTC, meaning your internet plan probably maxes out around 80mbps.
