Hi Tech team,

I want to build a PC with min 64Gb and upgradable to 128Gb RAM. My main work is Virtualization with more core and RAM.

Can you suggest a combination of Motherboard and Processor with other part.?

My overall budget is $ 1.5K

Solution
Yes exactly... most of them are cisco 9k switches, ACI and Juniper QFX series data center switches.
What kind of data flow rates are you trying to simulate? You can get by with less CPU if you just need the VMs for configuration and low data rate flows.
My initial recommendation is probably a first gen Threadripper to get the higher RAM capacity but a lower price point compared to current Threadrippers.
Hi,
Thanks for the reply!

I expect 16+ VM at the same time for CCIE/JNCIE preparation. Currently, I am using a LAPTOP with 6 core/12 thread and 32Gb RAM s but unable to do full simulation as temperature reaching 90 degrees +
So searching for PC build to do the same thing.

Regards

Are these VMs running virtual switches? What are the recommended host sizes for these VMs? Cisco Packet Tracer recommend 4GB RAM for optimum performance. You can't run 16+ of those in 64GB.
