I currently have a Ryzen 3 1200 that is overclocked to 3.8GHz, 16gb of RAM @2400MHz and a GTX 1060. I have noticed that even with the overclock active on the 1200, I still find that Battlefield 1 doesn’t run very well. Everything else seems fine, I know that it is my cpu that’s the problem. I just want to know what would be the best processor I should upgrade to. Right now my performance says 60-70fps but it really stutters, or it just stays at 30-50fps.

Solution
BF 1 runs flawless on my sons 1300X he isn't running Ultra more like mostly high settings but the FPS stays above 50. I'm running a 1600X with the same memory and a 1060 6GB with nearly all Ultra settings and stay above 60fps.

1300X @ 3.9ghz or 3.8ghz depending on the profile.
3200 Flare @ 3500mhz
970 GTX @ 1479mhz

I am running on 1080p and I have a 6gb 1060. I’ve watched performance vids and saw that the Ryzen 3 stutters while the i3 8100 and the 1600 don’t (Both we’re paired with a 1060)

I'm running a 1600 clocked to 3.7ghz, 8gb DDR 2400, and a GTX 1050ti and it runs pretty smooth on my system. Even turning it up to ultra isn't terrible unless you get into like a night map with a lot of effects going on. But at high things are mostly smooth. I know my CPU is overkill for the 1050ti, I would imagine any stuttering is either my GPU or the server. But for the most part it runs fine. As far as I've read though, the more cores or threads, the better for battlefield 1.

Do you see any/all cpu cores hitting 100% in game? Just curious but what is your HDD/SSD usage when stuttering occurs.

An R3/1200 OC'd to 3.8-3.9 GHz should run it well.....; I suspect a default Microsoft Driver is installed somewhere, either chipset wise, and/ or graphics wise.....

Do not judge performance on line, as sometimes folks' high framerates can actually lag out a server if the server admins have not capped the frame rate updates from each player to 30 or 60, etc...

That setup isn't expected to get 100FPS but it shouldn't have the stutter issues you are describing either. 4 core 4 thread chips had some issues early on (even 6600ks) but that has pretty much been resolved. If you want the absolute best performance get at least a 4 core 8 thread...which for Ryzen means an R5 1400 or higher. The 1600 is better and will last longer too of course for not much more money.

Your 2400MHz RAM might be holding you back a bit; they really run best at 2933 or higher (if you can get it to work; Ryzen RAM compatibility is still not great).

I do wonder if you might be blaming the problem on your CPU when it's actually a network issue or something though. BF1 stutters on anything when the internet connection lags. What kind of internet speeds, pings do you get?
