Good quality PSU

I want to run two R9280x units together and was going to go with a Corsair CX 750m but reading some reviews it seems like they might not be that solid. I really need advice from someone who knows PSU because reading everything has my head spinning. What PSU should I look at? 4670k and two R9280x... Also don't want to spend crazy cash either.

You need a recommended 900 watts for 280X Crossfire.

With a high quality unit you can probably get by with 850 watts as long as you aren't overclocking much.

This is the best deal I see. XFX Pro 850W Black Edition for $115 after rebate. All XFX units are made by Seasonic and this is a rebadged Seasonic X series. 80 Plus Gold certified and fully modular.

The CX750m wil be plenty for two R9 280x, no problem (especially if you don't want to spend a boat load of cash).

An overclocked 280X can pull 300 watts all by itself. Not the whole system just the card. You want to risk a system that can potentially pull 600 watts just with the graphics cards to a budget CX750 with cheap Chinese capacitors?

I hate this trend of it's a Corsair it's fine for anything with the CX/CXM. They are budget units and should not be stressed.

If it was my system I would trust RealhardtechX. They maintain the most comprehensive PSU database on the internet and can be trusted. I would go with a 900w unit.

glad you know your stuff about PSU.. so many people telling me the cx750 will be plenty.. Why is it when you use power supply calculator the website and enter in all data it says like 680w usage even with my projected OC? strange that so many people have such conflicting data..

900W seems super high, from benchmarks I've looked through, seems like quite a bit less...to each his own, I suppose.

But let's be mature here and not assume I'm out trying to "risk a system" instead of just offering some thoughts.

Because the cards are only crazy power suckers when you run Furmark and Furmark is more stressful than gaming....for now. There is a potential for the cards to pull 300 watts. This should not happen in normal use. But who's to say Crysis 4 or Far Cry 4 or some other game out soon might not cause the cards to go crazy and burn up an underpowered power supply. Or your whole system. Even a bad driver could cause this and there is a history of things like that from both AMD and Nvidia.

The 280X is a rebadged 7970 but they have set the potential voltage higher.

You do realise two gtx 780's pull around 500w right? 750w will be fine as long as you don't have decide it's smart to put something like 1.5v on your cpu.
Getting a good 750w is a different story entirely though, as a rule of thumb you should probably stick with 80plus gold or higher
I've heard good things about fsp's aurum pro's, but things like seasonic, corsair, etc are always good choices.

A very good unit but a step down in quality for a few dollars in savings. That is an older unit based on the Seasonic M12 II that is only 80 Plus Bronze certified. It's also not modular and that alone is worth some money in my opinion.

No worries. I've used a lot of CX units and never had an issue, so that's why I don't personally hesitate in recommending them, albeit as a budget option.
