Hello all,

So for my rig...

GPU: Titan X Maxwell
CPU: i7 4771 3.5 Hz
Mobo: MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition ATX
PSU: Corsair TX850w
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16 Gb DDR3
Monitor: Acer 2560x1440 144Hz

So I feel it should be a simple fix, but for everything I have tried... no success. I feel my rig is good enough to play games at relatively great quality, however that is not the case. The only 2 games I have tried so far (new PC so I have only installed these 2) is Warframe and Dota 2. In both games, no matter the graphics settings (I tried the lowest possible settings) I always encounter lag. I have updated my graphics drivers and monitor drivers and even reinstalled my components several times to be sure nothing was loose, but nothing changed. I had thought it could be the internet but after several tests I have pretty good connection. So my question is what could be the source of this lag? I personally feel my cpu may be bottlenecking the system but I do not know enough about that stuff to be sure. Appreciate any comments/suggestions

Thanks

I doubt it could be the CPU at 3.5GHz, but it could. I would also try using a software like DriverBooster4 to fix up drivers, or CCleaner. Driverbooster is the first driver software that i have seen that actually does not need registration and will fix drivers for free. Hope this helps.

Alright I tried the driverbooster4 and it did seem to make a noticeable difference which is good, but still constant stuttering present 🙁 I cannot imagine what else it could be because I tried lowering the settings but it is the exact same performance. Oh and I hadn't mentioned but everything is on a SanDisk Ultra II 960 Gb SSD

I'll look into that, thanks for the input

Do not use a driver utility or CCleaner. They are far more risky then most users understand.

Your CPU is almost certainly not a bottle neck. It is not ideal, but there is a huge jump from "not ideal" to bottlenecking to the point you get stuttering or lag at all settings.

Have you tried v-sync off and using MSI's afterburner (free and works on all systems) to limit your framerate? Have it match the mhz you run your monitor at.

Get Sysinternals tools (free from microsoft) and look at what is running at the sametime. The less you have running, the better.

Also try the game with your refresh rate (and afterburner) set to a lower level. Start at 60 and then 75 then 100, then 120 and finally 144. See if stuttering is showing up at some point or is there from 60.

One question that was never asked is this, what port do you have your monitor hooked up to on the computer. If it isn't hooked up to the gpu, then your computer isn't utilizing the Titan X.

Another thing that could be going on is even though you have it hooked up to the video card, your bios is running the games using the IGPU on the Cpu which would be giving you low fps.
