Hello guys,

I currently have a Seagate ST1000LM035-1RK172 1000GB SATA HDD on my Lenovo Ideapad 320-15ABR 80XS and I want to update to an SSD because the HDD is really slow and is crashing very often now. This laptop is still in a very good condition with decent specs (4CPU, 8Threads at 2.7GHz, 12GB RAM) and I want to use it as a backup, I think an SSD would make it real fast.

Which SSD drive (1TB) would you recommend for my laptop, please? I want something medium range, my budget is around $50-80 USD. I'm buying through Amazon and I want to make sure I purchase one that is compatible with my laptop.

Also, it seems the HDD got damaged cause the battery started inflating so much it actually cracked the laptop's case, may have to check that first before installing a new SSD as the battery is not working very well anymore, it lasts about 15 misn eventhough Windows says it has 1 or 2 hrs charge.

Thank you in advance.

A SATA III SSD will be a drop in replacement for the HDD.

Crucial MX500 or Samsung 870 EVO would be my choices.
Both about $50.

Wow, that was quick. Thank you so so much. I will look them up. Do you think it might be worth to spend up to $80 USD on an SSD for this laptop? It's not so new, but I think it still has some juice in it.

The SSD's suggested above are good options. Given the specs of the laptop, I don't think it really matters too much what you buy. I would be tempted to just buy the cheapest one. I can't view Amazon prices where I live though, if there's only like $2 in price difference between the best drives and the lower ends ones then you might as well go for one of the best ones.

Nice! I'm not familiar with the Crucial brand, I've read both items' specs and although both seem good, I also think I'll go with Samsung's EVO, it seems fair enough. I'm a simple man and I get overwhelmed with so many options so I will just buy EVO right now. Thank you so, so much everyone.

Crucial is one of the main brands, I have both Crucial and Samsung in this machine right now. Your unlikely to experience issues with any of the main brands.
