Question No power after replacing thermal paste

Hello,

I replaced my thermalpaste and now after putting my AIO back in and plugged the pc back in.. No power when pressing the power button.

My Specs:
OS: Windows 11 Pro x64 bit
CPU: i9 14900k + ID-COOLING FX360 Pro Liquid CPU Cooler
Motherboard: ASUS TUF Gaming Z790-Plus WiFi LGA 1700
Memory: Corsair Vengeance RGB 32gb DDR5 6000Mhz
GPU: NVIDIA Geforce RTX 3080 Ti 12gb
Monitor(s): HP x34 UWQHD 165hz 1ms
SSD: Crucial P3 Plus 500GB PCIe Gen4 3D NAND NVMe M.2 , WD Black SN750 NVMe SSD 1TB , Crucial MX500 1TB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 Inch Internal SSD , WD Blue 1TB M.2 ,
PSU:Corsair RMx Series RM1000x ATX 3.1 PCIe 5.1

Can you short the pins on the motherboard to get the PC to power up?

Just tried that method.. No power still. Not sure if I'm doing it right. I'll post a picture and see if this is the proper place to do it.

I checked the manual and it's not showing me where the power connector is.. Unless I'm blind.

I checked the manual linked above.. So it's pretty much where I took a picture of in my previous post on here? I'm just slow at this and guidence is always needed for me.

If that's your front panel plug, it's in the wrong area, should be plugged into header on the right.

Normally theyre coloured too, you sure that's where it came from?

No, that is the correct end to be attached to.

Those are the basic power, power LED, reset, HDD LED pins on that end.

I tried the screwdriver method, also plugged in the power connector the motherboard as done in the picture I posted. Also tried a different known working power supply.. Still no power. We tested the board and it's getting power.. Not convinced it's dead.. Would clearing cmos help with this or no?

You can try.

Verify that all of your power connectors (those that attach to the motherboard) and memory are firmly seated in their sockets/slots. It is common to dislodge components/connectors when performing work inside the system as you did earlier.

Tried checking to make sure all connections in board are firmly seated, also cleared cmos battery.. waited 10 minutes.. No power still. Here is a picture of my psu in the back of the case.. Maybe you all will see something I don't?

Pop out the GPU and see if the system will start with only the integrated GPU.

And make sure you plugged your AIO into the correct header

It seems, you have plugged USB plug into front panel header.
That doesn't go there.

Find cables from your case and plug them in appropriate places.
There will be separate cables for reset/power/hdd led/power led.

Just keep in mind that front panel connectors can vary. On several recent builds, using Lian Li cases, the front panel connector looked very much what the OP posted in his picture.

The style shown by @SkyNetRising is also very common.

For the OP, did you disassemble the system when you changed the thermal compound? If not, why remove the front panel connectors at all?

So I took out the cooler and cpu. No bent pins or damage. Cleaned and I realized I'm having trouble getting the aio to stay flush on the cpu so I can screw it down... Any idea why this happens?

Retrace your steps, consult the AIO manual. Take your time. You got this.

Did you remove the GPU?

Yes. GPU has been out of the pc for two days now. I'm thinking it could be the motherboard or cpu. I checked the pins again.. Clean and no damage.

Can you take a picture showing the entire motherboard inside the case and then post it?
