Good Wireless Gaming Mouse?

Well, I need to get a new mouse for my laptop. I currently am using a Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 (the mouse itself is approaching 5 years old), I hate gaming with it, and am looking for a replacement. But, I have been having trouble on deciding what mouse I want. I would, ideally, like a wireless mouse (the wire will go on my right hand side and the power cord is on the left side so I will get trapped under my laptop if I am using on my lap and have a corded mouse), but I know that wireless mice typically have a lower polling rate which is not ideal for gaming. I am looking at the Logitech G700, but it seems a little bit pricey. Also, how are trackball mice? I read some reviews and some people say they are good for gaming, I am assuming it will take getting used to, but I don't mind.

I typically play FPS games (most other games I play I will use a controller), so I would prefer a mouse that will be more orientated toward FPS (claw type right?). I also do a general web browsing and all around general computing.

So, does anybody have any recommendations or thoughts?

Last wireless mouse I used that was any good was a Logitech. I used it playing WoW and call of duty.
I don't like wireless cause the batteries always go out during a gaming session, without fail.

That is a big reason I use a wired mouse now. And it makes more sense for me since I game on a desktop.

I don't entirely mind the battery issue, I know with the G700 you can just put a standard AA battery in, which will last a lot longer than rechargeable. And I typically don't play games too intensively to where dead batteries in the middle of a game would really upset me.

I just had the batteries of a wireless mouse die too many times while raiding in WoW when I used to play it, that is why I don't use wireless mice anymore.

If you don't mind the battery issue, cool. And if you can afford too just slap a new battery in the mouse every 3-4 months maybe? That way it can't die on you.

I personally wouldn't recommend a wireless mouse for gaming. The wired mouse will ensure a constant, uninterrupted stream of data the computer can more easily process. With a wireless mouse it has to first decode the Bluetooth signal, then decode the mouse instructions. While this may not seem like much, it affects your experience with higher level games. The mouse will start to lag because the computer is trying to run a kick ass game, decode Bluetooth, and decode mouse instructions for that game.

That is a valid point.
A wired mouse like the Razer Death Adder I use has a really long cable about 1 meter long or so. I think that could go around the back of your laptop and to the side you need it on.

But still, with a wired mouse, I will have to move the mouse is I want to set the laptop aside, and I typically game on my lap and I tend to get up a lot, so I think that that moving could put some wear on the mouse. While with a wireless, I can just leave it alone when I get up.

I don't plan on getting a Bluetooth mouse, that is what I have now. I would like to get an RF wireless one. If I am not mistaken, then the RF will not have too decode, it will behave just like a wired mouse. And I know that the G700 has a 1000Hz polling rate, so that shouldn't be an issue. And I tend to play games casually, I don't really play to intensively, so a slight effect on the games won't really effect me personally.

The G700 takes one AA battery, I think I can have deal with the 50¢ charge that I will have every few months. My current mouse uses two AAA batteries every 3 months and I am fine with that expenditure.

If you are diehard wireless, then the G700 is going to be your best bet. That mouse is specifically made to try and compensate so you can play games and not suffer from mouse lag. It may be a bit pricey, but it will last.
