Google Chrome - search tools country missing.

When searching with google the search tools drop down menu is missing the change country option. This has happened to me before but I can't remember how it was fixed. I haven't changed any settings within the browser.

You'll only see the option to select a country if you search using your local country's Google domain instead of using Google.com

For example, my local Google domain is https://www.google.co.uk

I thought that was the case but I hadn't changed the default search engine. I've looked under Chrome's settings and see that the default search engine is set to google.com. Again I never set this and up until now I've always had the choose country option available so it must have been set to my local country's domain.. Does it simply need to be set back? I couldn't quite work out how to do this in Chrome's options.
