Glass will probably be like the Nexus device for this form factor. Other companies may release cheaper models, but with such a new form factor, which will evolve quickly software-wise to add new features its better to stick with Google. Who knows what Google has up its sleeve for the consumer model.
The Google Glass price tag is high but its still a prototype and under mass production prices will fall and the SOC will get updated.

These sorts of superimposed displays have been used by the military for a while, I am sure if there are potential side effects you can dig them up.

Healthy competition is never wrong. I think their firmware will suck nevertheless. Whats makes Google glass worthy is the extensive connection to Google's libraries. This is just a piece of hardware.

I'm not saying that Google Glass are stylish but these knock offs are downright ugly. They look so absurdly large and appear to be held together by scotch tape, hot glue, and hope.

Is it obvious that this is not finished product? A prototype?
The fact that prototype has been pushed forth means that form factor is still in making and can be pushed to match Google Glass original size if needed.
Does it mean that we see a better version of Google Glass? It does appear to be so. Google libraries can be run on hardware that support them. How many clones of existing hardware has been made in China versus device sold in North America? Plenty, to make companies in USA engage in all sorts of licensing to physically prevent Asian make clones reaching North American public. How is that for competition!
What this shows is that Asian users will get cheaper, more functional device compared to overpriced devices we get here. Albeit, without full functionality of google glass. However, Android can be extended for this purpose without Google Glass specific attributes like screen size.

Assuming the pic is a prototype, no one will wear anything with a cable running out of it. Makes you look much more nerdy than Glass already does...heh.

One has better spec's and a lower price. The other has Google/Android behind it. Yet they both lack a reason for consumers to buy them.
Glasses and watch tech has only advanced because no one has anything better to do on mobile platforms at the moment; not because they're useful and/or desired to any significant amount.

One has google supporting it...One doesn't. That's all you really need to know. A knock off won't be able to keep up with functionality that Google will keep adding.

i think a bluetooth glove would be awesome. No Minority Report stuff! It would be stupid to see people waving their hands while walking around, carrying suitcases. A mere set of tension and flex sensor on the back of the palm would be ideal. A simple pinch with your thumb and index fingers could mean "select" and moving them apart after that gesture would mean "magnify" or stuff like that. NOW THAT WOULD BE AWEEEEEESOOOME!
