Hi. I want to store my data. Would Google One be a better option, or should I spend the money on two external hard drives instead?
Ideally, both.Hi. I want to store my data. Would Google One be a better option, or should I spend the money on two external hard drives instead?
My internet speed is very slow. Wouldn’t it be better to use two external hard drives instead of Google?Ideally, both.
The basic concept of data security is 3-2-1.
3 copies, on at least 2 different media, at least 1 offsite.
1 copy on your PC
1 copy on the externals
1 copy in 'the cloud' (google)
Then yes.My internet speed is very slow. Wouldn’t it be better to use two external hard drives instead of Google?
How many copies should be ideal? Then yes.
(your slow internet was not mentioned earlier)
"1 copy offsite" still holds true, though.
That could be a friends house or similar.
My "offsite" is a couple of drives, vacuum sealed bag, in a desk drawer at work.
But I have nightly/weekly backups to my local NAS box.
You never want your data to live on only one device.
As said, 3.How many copies should be ideal?
