Okay so around the end of last year I asked for help on a build under $1500 that I was gonna get as End Of The Year present. Turns out that my dad wants me to make it cheaper and if I can't then I won't receive a computer. Oh and I sure as hell don't want to buy a pre-built PC. So I'm looking for some help making my Gaming build cheaper. Help each other out. Make comments on others suggestions please because this is my first time and I don't want to have to write my horror story to PCGamer. Looking to get somewhere around $1000 or as close as possible :)

You could get rid of the CPU cooler... You don't really need that unless you plan on overclocking. You could also get rid of the SSD. If you're on a tight budget but need room for game installs... just get a regular HDD for now. About the only other thing you can do is to get rid of the 970 GPU and settle for a less expensive model... unless that's one thing you have to have.

It might be much cheaper to just buy a pre-built OEM system for $600-700 and then getting the 970 GPU to stick inside it.

Even with that build it will still come out to nearly $1400 if you include taxes and paying full price for those "rebates" that may or may not ever come.

Do you have a machine you can salvage parts from? Every piece (A data HDD, the optical drive, DDR3 RAM) will help. This is especially true for the monitor.

CPU: Lower to i5-4590, live without the OC and save $20
CPU Cooler: No OC? Use the Intel POS. $88!
Motherboard: Check this thread to save ~$60 http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2573736/good-lga-1150-motherboard-100.html
Storage: Grab a SDSSDP-128G-G25, same capacity for ~$35 less. Probably little real world / noticeable performance difference
Video Card: Your monitor shows 1920x1080 resolution. A GTX 960 or r9 280X saves ~$115 and will still run every game nicely

Wifi Adapter: Do you really need this? It is a desktop, plug it into the cable modem directly. If this is possible, save the $39
PSU: Live with semi modular and get a Corsair CX430M for the same 80+ Bronze rating and ~$50 in savings

Monitor: Again, got an old one lying around?
Keyboard / Mouse: An old one will do if you have them.
Speakers: If you cannot use old ones, you could stick a pair of iPod headphones in the front if you really need the cash.

this is the closest you can get in order to remain in the gtx970 level. i think you can live without wireless, ssd and that blue led thing.!

I mean, I all I want to do is be able to run GTA V on High settings at 40+ fps.. So if a cheaper GPU can do that then Im fine with that.. But that Wireless thing is something I need because Ethernet doesn't reach my room.
