Hey guys

How big of a difference is there in the system 80A vs 80B Gottlieb
systems? Are any of the boards interchangable? Or are they totally
different systems?

Thanks!

Fairly big difference.
System 80a and 80b use completely different power supplies.
Also different score displays.
because the score displays are different, all the score
display logic on the system80a CPU board is MISSING from
a system80b CPU board. So 80a and 80b CPU boards can't
easily be swapped. Also the U2/U3 situation is different
between s80a and s80b (80b doesn't use u2/u3 on the CPU
board, there is a rider board that increases the game
ROM space and u2/u3 code is moved to there).

Clay hit the nails squarely on the heads. System 80 and System 80A are a
lot more similar, in terms of swapping control boards around. This swap,
requires some work, however.

Thanks, Clay.

driver board only.

CPU would require a lot of messing around to get it to work.sound
boards and power supplies are not.

I liked sys 80 until about early 80a. After that the games were so-so
at best.

Cool, so the driver board is interchangable, but the rest are not.

I appreciate the info guys, my buddy just got a Bone Busters that I am
going to take a look at tomorrow.

Oh yea, one other question on the 80B, is there a voltage knob on one
of the boards, like on the premier machines? If so, what should it be
set to?

There is a trim pot located on the board with the large heat sink. Set
voltage to 5.0 volts.

The driver board has jumper wires in place of diodes for the 3 mps
u45's along the top.
