Found a couple of 'peaceful cliff racer' mods, but can't get them to work.
I get an error message stating that the files are the wrong version. Does
anyone know a way to get this working?

Cheers,
Walt

I'm using a mod called "Rational Wildlife" and it works with the GOTY
edition.

It affects almost all wildlife though, not just cliff racers. They won't
attack unless they are diseased or provoked.

I think I got it at the Morrowind Summit, but it was a long time ago...

Thanks. I tried that one, and also another I found. None are working for
me, so I suspect there's something I'm not doing right. Not sure what
though; I have a few other mods installed and working fine. Anyone pitch a
poor guy a clue?

open up the TES program and select open file and that mod. after it
successfully opens (just keep executing program through any errors) Save it
by clicking on the disk icon in the toolbar on the top left side of the
screen. the next time you load the game it won't have that error, whether or
not it works... depends on the person that created it.

Indeed - if it still doesn't work, get a copy of "passive healthy
wildlife" (which does the same thing) instead, I'm using that one with
GOTY with no problems.

If I understood you correctly, the game complains that "One or more files
could not find the correct version they depend on." (or something similar)
If that is the case, it asks you how to proceed within the same dialog.
What happens, when you click on "Yes" or "Cancel"? Does the game crash
immediately or does it start, but you can't see any difference in wildlife
behaviour?

It was loading after the error, but the cliff racers were still attacking
me. But I finally got it working; Thanks to everyone who helped.

They kept attacking, because your savegame still contained their old
behaviour. Only newly spawned creatures will be affected by "Rational
Wildlife". So this problem will solve itself. As soon as you kill an
aggressive creature, the game will spawn a new, peaceful version after
a few days. If you visit an area you have never travelled before,
you will notice all creatures there to be peaceful.

Yeah <g> Picture me (reasonably computer savvy) trying to figure out what I
did wrong in installing the mod:

Lessee....copy the .esp to data files....check the box...couldn't be much
simpler than that....Yep; that's it.

<load game, get attacked...> doggonnit.

But after the second save they've all gone peaceful. Evidently it was only
the racers in the area I was in that the game had loaded up and were still
in their old behavior patterns. I did find a readme in one of the mods that
mentioned this.

Cheers,
Walt
