GPT Drive Part/file Recovery

Hello

Due to various reasons my GPT partition-tabled external hard drive was reinitialized by windows. I am now searching for a way to cover files from it. So far, many of the data recovery tools [Example: Active@ File Recovery] have been unable to find any files on the drive.

If at all possible I'd like to recover the old partition

Unfortunately it seems like Recuva only works on intact partitions, whereas my partitions have been destroyed.

Have you tried to connect the drive to a Linux box to use GParted to see if you can access the files? If not, you could boot from a Live version (like the one I linked below) to give it a shot.
