Hello everyone, my question is what GPU do I get? My specs are here:

Motherboard: P35-DS3 rev 2.1 (with modded BIOS that has HP-CompaQ SLIC 2.1 and injected Xeon microcodes (done by me))

CPU: Q9550 (will go for a Xeon E5450 soon!)

RAM: 4 GB of Kingston 333 MHz 2x1 and PQI Corp 400 MHz 2x1 (both run frequency 800 when I oc'ed my Q9550 to 3.4 GHz and it is stable), planning to go for Corsair 800 MHZ DHX 8 GIGABYTES!! Kit of RAM (i will get it on E-Bay)

GPU (current one): GT 730 Asus 2 GB GDDR5 Kepler GK208 version 0db Heatsink

PSU: MSI MAG A650BN (it has 2 PCI-E 6+2 power connectors too 😀)

SSDs and HDDs:
ADATA SU650 512 GB (Running Windows 7 and XP)
Samsung 870 EVO 500 GB (Running Tiny10)
Seagate Barracuda 7200 rpm 250 GB HDD used for storing files.

Case: DELUX mid-tower ATX case (not sure I don't know the model sorry)

Cooler: AIGO ICE200PRO (TDP 95W cooler)

Expansion card: TP-LINK TG3468 1 Gbps PCI-E

If you need anything else, feel free to ask!

Hey there,

What's the reasoning for the GPU upgrade? Better gaming?

Your system is so old, even a new GPU may not provide a big uplift. Your CPU whilst decent in it's day, is quite slow and won't contribute to a big boost in performance with a stronger GPU.

Depends on what your using it for but a cheap option that is a huge upgrade over what you have.
Up to you to make sure it fits.

Not better gaming haha, just to watch youtube/play low-end games like Portal2, CS1.6, Krunker.io, and Minecraft

And you are right, it won't really contribute; I agree on that, but I just want to play, you know, retro games and maybe potentially have better graphical performance
