[SOLVED] GPU bottlenecked by 1x16 GB RAM? (RTX 2060)

Hi guys,

I have Acer Nitro N50-600, with i5-9400 F, GTX 2060, and 1x16GB Crucial 2666 MHz DDR4 CL19 dual rank RAM.
I only play Warzone, and I get maximum of 90 FPS on low/medium details with raytracing off. (1080p)
Now this guy in this video has the same setup as me, and he runs high/ultra with raytracing on and gets anywhere from 100-140 FPS.
View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QD0uBMfmyc&ab_channel=GTX1050Ti

The thing is I dont know what RAM he is running, and I was already asking this on reddit and got suggested that it might be possible RAM bottleneck.
I would like to have at least similar performance as the guy on the video.
Before I buy anything, I wanted to doublecheck with you.
Will uprgrading to 2x8 GB 2666MHz RAM help? My mobo doesnt support speeds above 2666MHz, so thats out of the question, otherwise I would do that definitely.
PLS HALP :) THANK YOU

What are your temps?
Temps play a big, if not the biggest role when it comes to performance comparison videos.

First off you're running on single channel, it's not a good idea in general.
Not only that, the channel listed their specs in the description and they're also running dual channel
And then there's also the fact that this benchmark is fairly old and doesn't accurately reflect the performance you'd get on the latest season

Do you have any apps that are running in the background?
I usually turn off my web browser when gaming because I have milion tabs opened there. Usually only discord, blizzard battle.net and COD Warzone.
I also noticed, compared to the video, that his GPU runs at 97% but only 75C. While mine is usually at 80C but only gives around 60%..
Either way, my RAM setup is BAD, so I will be upgrading that no matter what actually :)

sorry didnt notice the specs in description.
that is true, but I dont believe that 1-2 seasons would make sucha big difference.

Does it always stay at 60% utilization? If that's the case it might be your drivers, but since those temps are kind of high it could also be your gpu is thermal throttling.

Try changing drivers, update it or rollback to an older one and if that doesn't work you could try to undervolt your gpu to cool it down

80C isnt going to cause thermal throttling, its ussually 85-90C for NVIDIA GPU's.
I agree on the driver thing though.

Motherboard is B360 in that Acer so ram never gets faster than 2666.
that is correct, and also, in some other threads here in TOMs (will try to find them), someone also found out that CL19 is what I should get, that someone posted their build with exact same mobo, with 3200MHz 2x8 GB stick but lower CL, dont exactly remember which one, and they actually didnt even get the full 2666MHZ out of the 3200 MHZ RAMs, but only 21xx MHZ due to the CL... I will try to find and link it here.

edit: Thats why I want to go for 2x8gb 2666 MHZ CL19 RAM
edit2: Actually it was Acer forums, will find the thread in my history for sure..

I find it very hard to believe that just the RAM speed is causing that much of a difference between the video and the system being compared. 90 fps on low/medium vs 100+ on high/ultra will take a lot more difference than RAM to account for.

I do, too. I wish the OP would do some proper benchmarking rather than comparing to a random YouTube video.

OP, with benchmarking, you can ensure that the settings used are identical.

Honestly, i see all of this like a big big waste of money.
You could easily sell your 9400F,b360 motherboard and that 1x16gb of ram for 300$ on ebay.
11th gen is right around the corner, look at the reviews for that and see whats up.
Save up 400$, and buy 11th gen i5 or whatever is equivalent to it.
Ram 'upgrade'wont give you 40fps more.

You might be right, and sorry, Im am completely new to this, and week ago I didnt know a single term related to PC parts etc...
So I dont even know how to do benchmarking 😀 But im not looking to spend 400+, sorry just no. I dont mind to spend 100 on a RAM if it helps but 100 and 400 is a big difference...
especially when I see that a guy with exactly same CPU and GPU can run it much better than me. I would be happy with that performance, and something besides GPU and CPU is causing that...

as I already mentioned, I didnt know a signle thing about this stuff a week ago, so I will google up on how to do benchmarking, and if I get some results, will post them here.
