So i purchased a 2nd 770 2gb and after installation i noticed that the core clock had dropped. When there was just 1 card is was around 1137, with the 2nd its about 540, this is with/without sli turned on. Is this normal or is it to do with the reduction of pci from x16 to x8?

PCI Express lane width should have nothing to do with GPU core speed. If you put a load on the graphics subsystem, like a benchmark or a game, do the clock speeds come back up? Also, is it on only one card, or both cards?

after a while of gamin the temps for the first card got to about 70 and about 60 for the 2nd. thats not max as i stopped playing soon after, i think theres alittle more to go.

is a 10 degree difference anything to worry about? also i didnt think the difference would be that much in an antec 1200..

10 degrees shouldn't make much of a difference, as long as the cards aren't overheating (Nvidia says the GTX 770 is good to 98 C).

I'm not that familiar with SLI to be much more help here. Just thought I'd try to eliminate some of the possible issues. I do know that adding a second card should not cut the clock speed in half, though.

If you install the second card by itself, does it run at full speed?

No they are both at the lowered speed.

I just tried with gpuz instead and its showing a much better result of 1306 and 1333. afterburner must have been having a bad day.

I also recently got my second 770 2gb and after playing BF3 for about 5 min both cards start dropping the core clock at about 800. When i disable SLI from the control panel there is no dropping.
