Question GPU crashing when stressed ?

so i built my own pc in late 2020 with a Ryzen 3700X and a Gigabyte 2080 Super.

I would use my pc on a daily basis until a few months ago when i took a break, now when i try to play any games on it that are visually heavy my pc crashes, or more accuratly the screen goes black and the fans ramp up to the maximum. After this happens the pc will sometimes reboot or in some cases doesnt do anything until i completely shut it down and reboot it via the button on the computer.

I have already tried cleaning dust out of the pc which improved the temps a little bit but the computer is still crashing. i already tried updating the bios and fresh installing the gpu drivers but i honestly dont know what the issue could be. Any tips or anything that could fix my pc would be greatly appreciated

Hi Toolyz.

What is the rest of your specs? Including the PSU
Amd ryzen 3700x
msi mag b550 tomahawk
stock cpu fan ( temps are fine tho)
16gb corsair ram i dont remember what kind exactly but they are ddr 3200
gigabyte 2080 super oc edition (3 fans)
evga 650 BQ ( semi modular with bronze power rating)
m.2 samsung ssd dont remember wich one exactly
and a nzxt h510 with 3 fans in it ( fourth fan didnt fit because of the stock cpu cooler)
windows 10 home

also during the crash the temps arent spiking up either so i do not know what is causing it

If not temps then psu sounds like it’s time to be replaced.

Have a look here. Preferably you want a unit from Tier A or B

On a side note, you could likely sell your 3700x for around 100 bucks and apply that towards a 5700x and get a bit of a performance boost.

As far as power supply I’m partial to the Corsair rmx units.
