So I hotswapped my backup pc’s gpu to a gtx 1050 from an amd card, did the usual ddu uninstall in safe mode, I rebooted, saw I was using Microsoft basic display adapter, thought all was good, until I downloaded my driver. Every time on Nvidias download it would check my pc for compatibility, then skip everything and say “installation failed”. So I redeleted everything using ddu and I went into device manager, right clicked on display adapters and clicked update, it detected my gpu and I asked windows to update it but it’s giving me an error too? Anyone have a fix?

When you say "hotswapped" you did not actually swap the cards while the computers were on did you? Because the meaning of "hotswap" is to swap components with the system running. Did you check for a newer BIOS for the motherboard? Would help if you listed full specs of the system, including power supply brand and model.

It has a 450 watt psu insignia which should be more than enough for a 1050, and I use a ga 78lmts2 with an am3 chipset, fx 4300. 8 gb ddr3. Everything should be compatible. And I didn’t hotswap, I meant I switched it quickly.
