Question GPU fans revs loudly under load, custom fan curve not helping

Hey,

I'm having some issues with my GPU revving while under load (around 70°C and above).
While gaming the GPU fans spins up loudly for a few seconds before spinning down again.

From MSI Afterburner it seems that the fan speed and fan tachometer doesn't really match when these spikes happen - the tachometer seemingly ignores the custom fan curve set.

This spinning up and down is driving me crazy, and I would much rather have a steady curve than these "spikes" in RPM.

Any takes on why this happens?

GPU: MSI RTX 2070 GAMING Z 8G
Monitoring Software: MSI Afterburner

Example

I saw on another thread that it might have something to do with "eco mode", but I'm not completely sure how to disable this or if it is even the culprit to the issue.

I am having the exact same issue with an EVGA RTX 2060 XC Black, I tried Afterburner and X1 Precision none of them worked messing with the fan curves.

Is your problem also starting around the 70°C temperature mark?
I think it might be something that kicks in only at that point, that somehow ignores the other fan speed settings.

Might have found a solution to my problem, but I'm currently still testing - I does however seem to have helped me for now.

I found a MSI Forum thread that said that installing a GPU Support Bracket helped them, so I tried and atleast for now it seems to have helped.

Hopefully this might help someone else too.

Will update this in case I learn something more.

Usually, the fans will kick in while underload just to protect the GPU while it heats us. Even if you changed the fan settings it will override the settings to keep the GPU from melting. I suggest maybe turning up the fan speeds on the case to bring cool air in the case which all around will help the PC and the GPU from heating up.
