GPU goes straight to max temp

I have a Sapphire RX Vega 64 and when I start up a game it immediately goes straight to 85c which is its max temp on MSI afterburner. The games I have run great though, I run Prey on max setting and it's smooth as can be, and Far Cry 4 also on ultra setting runs around 70 to 90 FPS, and Dark Souls 3 on Ultra looks amazing and very smooth. I am just worried that something is not right that it just goes straight up and just hovers in about 83c-85c. It idols at about 35c but literally as soon as I start a game within 5 seconds its at 80s. Is this normal/ OK?

It sounds like it's designed to hit that. You can adjust the fan curve in MSI Afterburner/Wattman if you need to.

It runs games great though, I have Prey running on max setting at 1440p and it runs smooth as can be, and Far Cry 4 also on ultra settings runs great besides one area where there are a lot of people and fire where it will drop to 40 or so FPS but every where else is around 70 to 90. I am just concerned that that is not normal for the temp to just go straight to max. Is this normal or do I have an issue?
