Hello everyone,

Recently Ive been having issues where when playing a game after 5/10 mins my screen would go black and my GPU fans would max out and just sit there until I hold down the power button to turn it off and on again.

So far what I have tried is:

  • Re-thermal paste the CPU
  • Re-thermal paste the GPU and all new thermal pads (Both GPU/CPU did need done badly upon inspection)
  • Tested my friends GPU (EVGA 2080TI) in my PC with a complete uninstall of GPU drivers and correct drivers installed. No issues found.
  • Tested my GPU (Gigabyte 2080 Super) in my friends PC, Same thing complete uninstall of drivers and correct ones installed and sure enough after 5 mins of furmark test it did the same black screen fans maxed.

Could anyone give any suggestions as to whats wrong as I am at a complete loss ?

Id like to also note that BIOS, & chipset are also all up to date before any testing commenced. Also, just to note in case of any confusion this issue only happens when the GPU is under load. eg, GPU test in Furmark after 5mins or playing say Helldivers for 5-10 Mins. GPU temps were a bit of an issue before, but since re pasting them now they are fine.
