I just upgraded my GPU from 6700xt to 9070xt. After switching the GPU, everything is fine. Played MH Wilds for almost 10 hours. And just today, I booted my PC it went on, GPU fans were spinning and the moment my Monitor tuned like logging in from Windows, GPU fans stopped spinning. I checked Device Manager my 9070xt is being detected. I tried using older GPU and same thing is happening.

Specs:
AMD 9900x
MSI x670e mobo
Powercolor Hellhound AMD 9070xt

what is your power supply.

Do the video card fans spin when there's a load being put on the GPU?

This sounds somewhat like fan stop which has become fairly standard on video cards of recent years where the fans don't spin until the GPU reaches a certain temperature.

I tried stressing the card but it's just nothing. Matter of fact, whenever I tried stressing it, the iGPU is the one being stressed.

if you dont have a hdmi or display port in the gpu its not going to stress test that card.

also your psu is under spec its recomended to use a 900w minimum.

igpu pulls not much so i suspect thats why its functioning with igpu.

you must use 3 seperate gpu cables for the card to work properly as well.

if all the above are correct i suspect the psu has failed. ( not fully but its using its igpu which wont draw a huge amount of power.

Sorry for not being specific on the GPU. But I am using Powercolor hellhound, which it recommends 800W.

Yes all of them are connected to the GPU. Same thing is happening with my 6700xt

go into bios set priority for you to use the gpu

To set your preferred GPU as the primary graphics adapter in an MSI BIOS, navigate to the "Integrated Graphics Configuration" or similar section under "Advanced" or "Chipset" settings, and select "Initiate Graphic Adapter" to "PEG" (PCI Express Graphics).

Done that as well before and nothing.

its either motherboard or power supply id personally say its power supply. you can also try setting bios to default settings and see.

make sure there are no hdmi or any display cables in the motherboard.

just 1 single hdmi or display port to the monitor. and see if it boots.

Do you connect two different 8-pin cables from the psu or do you use two connectors on the same cable?
2 different cables.

welp nothing change. I have an extra mobo and PSU that I can try. But the PSU is 750W will that be okay? I will try doing these tests tomorrow and if for some reason one of them works I will just RMA unfortunately. If I used my 9070xt on the 750W, do I still need to use TWO SEPARATE PCIE cables? And does plugging and testing my GPU on that power supply can damage the card?

I will test them tomorrow since it's 12:01 AM here. I hope to see the tests and results tomorrow and get back at you guys again. Thank you very much for helping and being patient with me.

Then disable the integrated graphics in Windows and see what happens.
I did that to my 6700xt and it's now working. I just need to disable iGPU. Such a weird occurrence to happen. Like my PC was running fine before. 1440p Ultra RTX on at MH wilds. After finishing my session my pc just froze.

So should I not worry anymore? I'm going to DDU again and install 9070xt drivers. I am just scared about the chance that @beyondlogic was suspecting regarding my PSU or MOBO. I just need some justifications?

That is really weird as you shouldn't have to disable it. It sounds like more of a software issue than hardware one due to just disabling the IGP resolving it. You should double check the Windows graphics settings to see if those somehow got changed to prioritize IGP. You could also check to see if somehow the Windows power settings/profile got changed as well.

None of them get changed or anything. But do you think that there's a possibility that it's a faulty PSU like the other commenter mentioned? It seems like power only distributes whenever the system is being stressed. Wouldn't at least have some minimum power being distributed while in idle? I am searching similar issues and I don't think I'm finding any issues the same as mine.

I am now running MHWilds and this is what showing in HWinfo. iGPU disabled, 9070xt drivers installed, and now my sensors are not detecting the actual specifications of my card.
