So basically earlier today I started building my first PC. I decided to build outside the case to ensure that every core part was working. So I plugged in the 24-pin main power connector to the Mobo. Then the 8-pin CPU power connector. Safely put the CPU and put the heatsink over it. I then put the RAM in and finally the Graphics Card. I plugged two of the PCI connectors in, and gave my video card power. So I did everything right... well that's what I thought. I then get my HDMI, plug it into my graphics card and the other end into my Monitor.

I then go to turn on the computer by using my screwdriver and lightly touch the two pins (pwr) and I hear noise. The fans are spinning (including the GPU fans). Everything sounds right. Then I look up at my monitor and I see a dreadful sight. Which was nothing... My monitor didn't detect anything whatsoever from the GPU. I tried different HDMI cables but it still didn't work. Everything was plugged in correctly, I defintley am sure of that. But it didn't display anything.
If there are ANY suggestions you guys could recommend I would greatly appreciate it! Also to mention, I did get this GPU second-hand meaning it has been previously used by someone. But it does seem to be working, well it defintley sounds like it. The light also lights up too on the GPU. Help guys please, you're my only hope! :/

Here's my build (http://nz.pcpartpicker.com/p/LqcgmG) if that helps. I've been stressing over this the whole day, please help me. 🙁 Thankyou very much!

Do not worry. I have seen this happen loads of times before.

Basically, HDMI sometimes needs the correct drivers to actually display something and as you can't get onto your PC to install those drivers, so it won't work. I would use a DVI cable to use it and it should be fine. :)

When downloading drivers, make sure that you are getting the latest ones. I personally use AMD's driver updater tool which is great:

So you described every step in great detail, but didn't mention turning the monitor on. Wouldn't it be nice if that were the problem?

Start with the simple stuff. If you have a displayport or dvi cable, give that a try. If you have another video card, try that. If you happen to have an old speaker you can plug into the PC-speaker pins, that might help you find an error code without video.

The best thing I can tell you, though, is that we aren't your only hope. Your best hope is in Gigabyte, who will not only help you with troubleshooting your lack of video, but will replace your motherboard if that's the source of the problem. Give them a call. Maybe before that, though, check out page 78 of your motherboard manual and make sure you've gone through the troubleshooting steps properly.

Haha yes I did turn the monitor on, still didin't work. I'll try everything you guys reccomended tomorrow and if it still doesn't work, I'll go ahead and give Giggabyte a call. Thanks for the help guys 😀

Thankyou Sam, probably the best response yet. (I have put different threads up on different websites). It sounds like you know what you're talking about. I'm hoping this works tomorrow! I'll let you know if it works, and again thankyou so much.

You're very welcome and I'm just talking from experience 😉

Will be happy to see if this works. I got a feeling it will.

Also I asked on another forum and someone said to take the battery out of your motherbaord to reset the BIOs. Would this be a sensible thing to do?

Hey Sam

So I tried again today, I went out and got a DVI cable to connect and see if it works. IT STILL DIDN"T WORK. I don't know what to do. It's annoying because everything seems to be working, I can hear the noise from most parts and see the fans spinning. Also I tried to remove the battery from the motherboard but I can't seem to get it out? Help please! Thanks.

At this point, all you can do is try re-inserting various parts such as your CPU, graphics card, and check all your connections (keep an eye out for potential shorts or bent pins). If you still get no video, call Gigabyte. There's always a chance you got a dud motherboard, cpu or graphics card. At a certain point the only way to find out for sure is to start swapping hardware.

That would be a good thing to do. If all else fails, try the graphics card on a friend's PC and if it doesn't work, send it back and get a new one.

Okay guys, thanks for the help.
