[SOLVED] GPU load drops to 0% randomly

Hi ,
So i have a 3700x and a ASUS TUF 5700 XT on ASUS TUF x570 Gaming Plus Motherboard. When playing Gears 5 on Recommended Settings ( Which is Ultra) . I experience major micro stuttering, i used raedon overlay to monitor it, and found out that my GPU UTIL is dropping to 0% from 90% sometimes , even from 60%. The temps are at 75-76 degree. Is it thermal throttling? i have a open air case. Core P3.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

if it drops to 0, its not thermal throttling, it means your CPU doesnt prepare anything for your GPU to work with

run latencymon in background (there is start monitoring button with green play icon)

once your notice issues in your game, check latencymon if it reports anything

your software tells your CPU what it will do...your CPU should be fine
hardware errors looks differently

It seems your CPU is bottlenecking GPU. If your CPu is powerful enough, it should be PSU or the motherboard ($less probability)
Or your CPU might be undervolted which may cause problems

My CPU is Ryzen 3700x, could it bottleneck a RX 5700XT also my Mobo is ASUS TUF x570 Gaming plus

uninstall your storage drivers, use microsoft drivers for now

open device manager -> ide ata/atapi controllers
right click on all controllers and click uninstall device and also mark up remove drivers
reboot is needed

I have a Nvme SSD m.2 on my motherboard. Will uninstalling those drivers affect my system in any way?

You didn't install those driver, so Windows will automatically install them

nope, nvme isnt listed in ata/atapi controllers and its not using storport.sys
its stornvme.sys

Hi I uninstalled and after reboot i can able to see it again.

does it still says AMD whatever controller? or is it now standart AHCI

Ohh damn my bad. It was showing Standard SATA Ahci controller even before uninstalling it. Guess I didn't install those sata drivers at all.

nvm, since u removed it, windows downloaded new from windows update

see if it got better

i can still see the issue being reported in Latencymon but in game the stutters are minimized

go to device manager
under system devices locate high precision event timer, right click it and disable it
open CMD or powershell with administrator rights
and type:
bcdedit /set disabledynamictick yes
press enter
then reboot
