I'm having some foreseeable complications. I'm upgrading an HP Envy 750-114 to be a decent gaming computer. I'm buying an overclocked R9 390 with a backplate later today off a friend and it looks like it won't fit at all. (I'm not worried about bottlenecking, just future-proofing my computer)
This is the closest thing to what my motherboard looks like:

So as you can see it looks like any video card over 1 cm too large won't be able to fit because of the RAM slots being in the way.
I've looked into PCIe extenders but they all look finicky and harmful to my computer.
Can I just remove the backplate? If not, what's my best option here?
