Hey guys, so I have an Asus x555l laptop consisting core i7 5500U, Nvidia geforce 840m 2gb ddr3 memory with 8 gb of Ram , 15.6 inch screen , max resolution 1366*768. I use MSI afterburner to check the temp, fps and overall memory usage of gpu during gaming. On some games like The Witcher 3 which I play with low settings on 720p, I noticed the gpu memory usage is not that much, it barely uses 1 gb out of the 2gb memory which I guess will use more memory if I could turn everything higher ?

While on far cry 4, I noticed I can play at medium settings with 30+ fps and it uses almost all of 2gb memory, so my question is, the memory use of gpu's, is it like different for different games or every game should use the memory like that of witcher 3's ?

Sorry if the question is a bit unclear, I am just curious about it .

memory usage depends on the settings or resolution, like for high antianalising or high textures etc u neeed high gpu memory and other more the resolution more the memory use EX. (like if ur playing on 4k so u need atleast 4gb of g memory)

I kinda got worried seeing the higher memory usage of Far Cry 4, it stayed the same regardless of low or high settings and even in lower resolutions.

I know, but witcher 3 is even more demanding than far cry 4 yet it uses far less memory . Because its a laptop, I just dont want to overheat it too much cos of higher memory usage, most of the time and highest temp stays at 71 degress while gaming but in case of far cry 4 ( Mind you have completed the game, just wanted too see the usage stats) it goes up to 80.
