GPU mhz decrease when reach 99% load

Hi everybody,so hi have this problem from few days,I tried everything I could but the story is the same:get around 1400 MHz(gtx 980 ti gigabytes g1) at the beginning and games work 60 FPS perfect,after few moment(30 second,5 minutes)as the load goes up the MHz go down till approximately 886 MHz,after that STUCK.
The funny thing is that if I,while I’m gaming go back to desktop and go back to the game the MHz fluctuation start again.

CPU:i7 6700k
GPU:gigabyte 980ti g1
PSU:xfx 850w black edition
Os:window 10x64

Have you monitored the temperatures to ensure that your GPU is not overheating?
You can go that with HWINFO or MSI Afterburner.

Hi and thanks for the quick answer.
I did monitor my temps and never went up 65 degrees,with msi afterburner.
Also made a fun curve and at 100% load it stayed under 55 degrees

Does this only happen while gaming?

You could try a Benchmark like Superposition Benchmark or Firestrike and compare your card against other 980ti´s. Would be interesting if this happens always
